Debra Poppen Designs recently completed a full remodel project in Rockford, Michigan, where we completely transformed a dated condo that hadn’t been updated since the 80s. Our goal was to create a unique space that perfectly reflects our client’s style and love for the nearby lake.
We drew inspiration from our client’s love for minimalist design and the picturesque lake surroundings. To create a stunning design, we merged Scandinavian simplicity with airy blue tones and incorporated moody black accents to complement her baby grand piano. We replaced the outdated burgundy carpet with new flooring, refreshed the walls with a fresh coat of paint, upgraded the doors and hardware, and added custom window shades and light fixtures to complete the overall look.
One of the most striking features of the living room is the statement bell-shaped light fixture made from hundreds of buri sticks with an ombre finish. It perfectly blends the coastal and Nordic elements of the design. Additionally, we transformed the heavy brick fireplace into something bright and airy with the help of limewash paint.
Our client now has a relaxing and unique home to return to after a long day at work. The mix of casual simplicity and bold design choices make this condo truly one-of-a-kind. We can’t wait to furnish the space in the next phase of the project to bring it to life even more!
